Notes

  • If you order directly from Dragino they include a program cable and the DS18B20 external Temperature Sensor at no additional cost. Other vendors may sell you the external temperature sensor at an additional cost and many will not sell you the program cable so you stay wedded to their configurations.

  • I’ve configured 40 of these devices using the integration into BMON method described here and have been very impressed. They set up quickly and in my experience have reported their first data into BMON within seconds (the key is to press the ACT button after setting it up in TTN so it starts talking to your integration immediately, pending range to gateway).

  • Use a simple transform if you need to record your data in Degrees F. Remember, this is not a calculated field.

  • When ordering, beware any offerings for proprietary connectivity to services, more about that here.

    • You need at minimum the Device EUI, App EUI, and App Key to integrate with BMON via TTN. Other proprietary softwares with webhook capabilities may work with BMON. I have twice attempted an alternate solution with proprietary systems and have not yet succeeded so they will not be documented (by me) here. If you have one that works, especially if it does not require a monthly service fee, please do share your experiences!
